SMTP Port: Port 587
Type of Encryption: TLS
Username: Your Windows Live ID, for example yourname@hotmail.com

Because of a security issue with Adobe AIR, StudioCloud cannot connect directly to this provider.  As a result, please click the "Send From StudioCloud Servers" checkbox on the Outgoing mail tab.

If you are getting an error message that says that StudioCloud could not authenticate and you are certain you have the correct username and password then you may need to check your Hotmail activity by going to https://account.live.com/Activity and see if you can find any rejected connections.  It is possible that Hotmail is blocking the StudioCloud connection.

If you have 2 step authentication enabled you will need to follow the instructions in this tutorial to create a password for StudioCloud. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/app-passwords-two-step-verification

Troubleshooting
If you are getting an error saying "Could Not Authenticate" then please there are a few possible issues.

  1. You have entered an incorrect username or password.  Correct this by entering the correct username and password
  2. Microsoft is blocking the connection from the StudioCloud server.  You will need to use the steps below to resolve this
    1. Go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/account/security/recentactivity.aspx
    2. Click the "See Your Recent Activity" button
    3. Look for any login attempts that were rejected.  The StudioCloud servers are located in the North Western United States.  Approve those logins and then try sending a test email again.
  3. You may need to setup an app specific password using the instructions here https://support.office.com/en-us/article/create-an-app-password-for-office-365-3e7c860f-bda4-4441-a618-b53953ee1183
