Gather Windows System Information

Overview

This tutorial provides instructions on getting the Windows System Information from your windows computer. This should only be followed if requested by a StudioCloud technician.

Instructions for Windows 10/11

  • To start Microsoft System Information, use either of the following methods:
    • In the Taskbar search box type MSINFO23 or type in System Information

    • Once it is open go to File and click Save

    • Wait until the files have finished exporting out all of the information and then email the saved file to the support rep that is working with you


Instructions for Windows XP/Vista

  • To start Microsoft System Information, use either of the following methods:
    • Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Information.
    • Click Start, click Run, type msinfo32.exe in the Open box, and then click OK.
  • Once it is open go to File and click Save
  • Wait until the files have finished exporting out all of the information and then email the saved file to the support rep that is working with you

Instructions for Windows 7

  • Click on the Start button
  • Go to All Programs > Accessories > System Tools and click the System Information option
  • Once the System Information window is open click the File option and click Save
  • Choose the location where you want to save this file
  • Make sure the "Save as type" option is set to System Information File (*.NFO)
  • Click the Save button
  • Wait until the files have finished exporting out all of the information and then email the saved file to the support rep that is working with you

Instructions for Windows 8

  • Hold down the windows key and press the letter X. A menu will appear in the bottom left of your screen.
  • Click the "run" button
  • A window will popup. Click on the textfield to the right of the "Open:" text and type in exactly the letters "msinfo32" without the quotes and hit enter.
  • The System information window will appear. Once it is open go to File and click Save
  • Wait until the files have finished exporting out all of the information and then email the saved file to the support rep that is working with you
