How to Enable/Disable Background Auto Syncing

Overview

StudioCloud automatically sync all of the data between multiple devices.  In addition, this creates a backup copy of all of your data on the StudioCloud servers.  However, because it does sync all of the data it can slow down the process for entering lots of data into the program at once.  If you need to enter a large amount of data at once you can disable the background auto syncing functionality. Disabling the background auto sync is only done on a per computer basis. It will not affect any other computers that you have StudioCloud installed on unless you disable the background auto syncing on those computers as well.

Please note, if you disable the background auto syncing functionality then your data will not be synced to the StudioCloud servers or to other computers that are accessing your StudioCloud account data.  This can result in conflicting information being entered.  This tutorial will explain how to enable/disable the background auto syncing and how to sync your data if you have the background auto sync disabled.

How to Enable/Disable Background Auto Syncing

  1. Open and login to StudioCloud
  2. Go to the Cloud Services component
  3. Select the Cloud Settings tab
  4. Click the Syncing Options button
  5. Click the appropriate option to enable or disable the auto syncing
  6. Click the Save button

How to Sync Data when Background Auto Syncing is Disabled

  1. Open and login to StudioCloud
  2. On the bottom left you will see a progress bar that would normally show the sync status.  It should now say Click to Sync
  3. Click the progress bar to sync your data
Note: StudioCloud will automatically start the background sync when you launch StudioCloud even if you have the auto sync disabled. Once it has successfully synced the data using the background sync then it will not sync again until the progress bar is clicked or StudioCloud is restarted.
