How to Backup and Restore StudioCloud using CloudStorage

Overview

This tutorial explains how to backup and restore your local database to cloudstorage

When Would This Option Be Used?

This option would be used in the following situations:

  • A StudioCloud support rep requested that you do one of the steps below
  • You want to login on a new computer and do not want to wait for StudioCloud to create a snapshot
  • You want to login on a new computer and want to keep your local computer settings so that they are the same on the new computer
  • You want to reinstall StudioCloud and you want to keep the same local computer settings after the reinstall.

How to Backup your StudioCloud Information to CloudStorage

  1. Let the program sync completely one time to make sure that all of the data that has been saved locally has been synced to the server
    1. If you do not do this and there is data that has not been synced to the server yet then you may end up with duplicate data if you use the CloudStorage backup
  2. Click on the Settings component
  3. Click the Technical Support button
  4. Click the Backup StudioCloud To CloudStorage button
  5. Read the warning pop up and click the Yes button to confirm you want to do the backup
  6. Click the OK button once it is complete

How to Restore your StudioCloud Information from CloudStorage in the Desktop Software

  1. Let the program sync completely one time to make sure that all of the data that has been saved locally has been synced to the server
    1. If you do the restore before data has been synced then you could have potential data loss
  2. Click on  the Settings component
  3. Click the Technical Support button
  4. Click the Restore StudioCloud From CloudStorage button
  5. Find the latest backup and click the Restore From Backup button
  6. Reopen the StudioCloud software
